James Weaver’s Priorities

Protecting Dorchester County’s Future: Dorchester County is growing, but growth without planning comes at a cost. James believes development must be balanced, intentional, and tied to infrastructure readiness. He opposes overdevelopment that strains roads, schools, utilities, and public safety and leaves taxpayers footing the bill. Growth should enhance our community, not overwhelm it.

Responsible Growth Not Overdevelopment: Dorchester County is experiencing rapid change, but growth without forethought harms quality of life. James supports development that is strategic and sustainable. He stands firmly against unchecked expansion that burdens residents, stresses services, and undermines the character of neighborhoods.

Infrastructure That Keeps Pace: Too often, development is approved before roads, drainage, and public services are ready. James supports a commonsense approach. Infrastructure should come before, not after, new development. Smart planning today prevents congestion, flooding, and costly fixes tomorrow.

Protecting Quality of Life: James believes Dorchester County should remain a great place to live, work, and raise a family. That means preserving community character, protecting neighborhoods, and ensuring growth decisions consider long-term impacts rather than short-term gains.

Accountability to Taxpayer: Unchecked growth often leads to higher taxes and hidden costs. James is committed to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and careful oversight to ensure taxpayer dollars are not used to subsidize poor planning or rushed development decisions.

Economic Development That Makes Sense: James supports job growth and business development that align with the county’s capacity and workforce, not unchecked expansion that benefits a few at the expense of the community. Responsible economic development strengthens the local economy while respecting infrastructure limits.

Public Safety Comes First: Overdevelopment can stretch law enforcement, fire, and emergency services thin. James will prioritize public safety by ensuring growth decisions account for staffing, response times, and community safety.
