ABOUT JAMES WEAVER
James Weaver brings disciplined leadership and real-world experience to county government, shaped by a lifetime of service, education leadership, and community involvement.
James has served 28 years in the South Carolina Army National Guard and continues to serve today, leading communications and cyber operations both overseas and here at home. His military career reflects a commitment to accountability, preparation, and protecting critical infrastructure.
In his civilian career, James spent more than 25 years in education, including 15 years as Campus President at ECPI University, working closely with local school districts and employers to prepare students for careers that strengthen the local economy and keep talent in Dorchester County.
James currently serves on the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments and the Citizens Advisory Review Team, helping guide responsible infrastructure planning and taxpayer accountability. He previously served on the Dorchester School District Two Education Foundation, supporting students and teachers through workforce partnerships.
As a candidate for Dorchester County Council, James is focused on public safety, smart growth and infrastructure, responsible economic development, support for veterans, and education aligned with workforce needs. He believes growth should be planned, government should be transparent, and taxpayers should always come first.
James lives in Dorchester County with his family and remains actively engaged in the community through civic, business, and faith-based organizations.
